Why oh why is mamey not more popular?

I think they one I had was underripe; the Wikipedia article compares the texture to avocado and mine was more a sort of dense melon-squash. But the flavor was a nommeriffic maraschino cherry taste that handily kicks papaya and mango's asses, and that rich deep orange just has to point to lots of beta carotene.

Oh yes. I think I like mamey.

I'm going to be taking a short break from doing drabbles. I have to work on my BBtP fic and my Snarry Holidays fic, plus I've signed up for two other fests. I will be busy, busy. I will return to doing the drabbles as soon as I complete four fics. I'm so stupid for doing all these. I may have bitten off more than I can chew.

Got the BookMooch and the bribe for rehd_fawx mailed out, got my meds (all of which are generics now!) picked up, had a nice big breakfast at Kerbey Lane (baked potato omelet with homefries and sourdough toast), went to Fiesta. It was Unusual Fruit Day. I got lychee, longan, and loquat (all canned) and mamey (fresh).

Finished the new Valdemar book. It's pretty much a rehash of her standard themes, but it was a pleasant enough read. Still, I'm quite pleased to not have had to pay for it.

Well, I'm in the Student Center on campus. I'm currently living off-campus at a friend's apartment but came here to get my mail (which opens in an hour) and check my email. Thanks, everybody! :D

The flights were all so deliciously prompt! There were no hassling delays like when I fly within and from the US! :D Wonderful service on all the flights. I did end up with a bad neck crick and back pain, but that's to be expected. The airports in Singapore and Japan were really wonderful. New to me. The bookstore at Singapore Changi International airport took a while to find so that was a bit disappointing. :P I spent loads of money at Narita International Airport (in Japan) buying souvenirs and stuff. Heh.

I didn't manage to get much sleep on the flights (perhaps five total max) and I was exhausted when I finally reached the bus station. My friend's roommate picked me up, and after dropping my luggage we did a few errands. I had planned to stay up until 9pm or something to try and force my body into Midwestern timezone, but I ended up falling asleep around 5pm. I missed a few calls - the reception is very bad and I only get it near a window in the common area and not in my friend's bedroom where I was knocked out. Thankfully though, I managed to go back to sleep after talking to a few people on the phone telling them I reached there safely and woke at the heinous hour of 7:30am.

Well, let me tell you, since it had been more than 48 hours since my last shower I was thankful for a shower. I was a little dizzy and wobbly on my feet (still am) and my hands are still shaking a little from the exhaustion, but I am fine, I reckon.

I just don't understand this pairing. Seriously. Did they even meet in canon?

But everyone is writing/drawing it. WHY?!



Also, I have a super secret question because it involves a fic of mine that hasn't been revealed as mine yet.

I'm getting dug in to my ARC of the new Valdemar book. It is classic Mercedes Lackey; miserable kid in a bad situation gets rescued and is Special. In this case the kid is a slave in a gemstone mine... am I wrong, or did she just up the ante? And since it's a Valdemar book, he's rescued by being Chosen. So far about all that's happened is the being Chosen and starting to find his way around classes. So far I'm enjoying it but I'm very glad to have scored it on BookMooch rather than be faced with the prospect of buying it in hardcover.


Have any of you tried Conjure Oils? rehd_fawx and I were drooling over some of the product descriptions on their site and I'm thinking of ordering a few sample vials to investigate. Gonna put together a wishlist and start contemplating.

Because I really needed another etailer of gorgeous smellies, right? But I do need joy where I can get it, so.

Time to shower, hopefully that will help me get clear-headed.

Your prompt list was really a dream come true, because it was specific enough to give me a starting point while remaining vague enough to let me go off into a million different directions, before I finally settled on this.
